Horses and Ireland. The two go together. The Irish are horseracing mad and a week doesn't go by when there isn't at least one major race meeting on in or around Dublin.
Savour the atmosphere, have a pint and have a flutter on course or off. Irish racecourses are renowned the world over. The Curragh, Leopardstown, The Phoenix Park. The horses aren't bad either making Ireland one of the leading centres in the world for the breeding industry.
Why not take a trip to one of the many stud farms just outside Dublin in Meath and Kildare (location of The National Stud Farm).
If you're not going to the races but fancy a wager anyway drop in to the local bookies Tara Racing (Harbour Road) and lose your shirt.
Greyhounds Don't fancy the nags? Go to the dogs.
For a great nights entertainment a visit to either of Dublin's newly refurbished dog tracks is highly recommended. You can have dinner, place your bets and enjoy the friendly atmosphere. Parties are catered for and you can hire your own viewing box.
